Volunteers are essential to a vibrant Activities Program. Volunteers bring the community to us, and in turn we provide opportunities for volunteers to serve and to develop relationships with Residents. Many Residents also enjoy opportunities to volunteer and serve others.
The Volunteer Program is designed to enrich and enhance Resident life. Volunteer positions include meaningful work that is clearly focused on our organization's mission. Volunteers will be expected to perform in cooperation with the organization's staff and comply with organizational guidelines at all times.
Our Recreational Therapist is responsible for the Volunteer Program. A Volunteer Program Leader will be chosen and is assigned responsibility for:
- Recruitment
- Orientation
- Training
- Supervision
- Scheduling
- Recognition and appreciation
To ensure that volunteer involvement is both useful to the organization and meaningful to the community volunteer, volunteer assignments will be clearly defined and have a visible contribution to the Residents and the mission of the organization.
Volunteer opportunities are available for adults living in the general area, Residents, family members, appropriate pets and children over the age of 12 (with parental permission).
Some examples of volunteer opportunities are:
- Activities Assistant
- Dining Services Assistant
- Receptionist
- Transportation Assistant
- Friendly Visitor
- Clubs/Arts and Crafts
- Guest Speaker
- Performer
The opportunity to give to others is an important part of each life. Our organization is made better by involvement of the community, and our Residents want the opportunity to give to others as well as to receive. Having a structured volunteer program helps to ensure success.
